Do You Know What's Inside a Twix Chocolate Bar?
When you were younger, did you have a favourite chocolate bar? Perhaps it was that chocolate-covered caramel goodness known as the Twix bar. But do you know what’s actually inside your favourite chocolate bar? Probably not. We’re going to take a look at all the ingredients and figure out why this is one of the most popular chocolate bars in the country today.
The history of Twix
Twix is the first and only candy bar to feature two different kinds of chocolate, which was an innovation when it was introduced in 1967. It was also the second chocolate bar to be made by Mars, Incorporated. The name Twix comes from the word twice, as it features two layers of chocolate.
The ingredients in a Twix bar
A Twix bar is made of two chocolate-covered biscuit cookies with caramel in between them. The biscuit cookies are made from flour, sugar, hydrogenated vegetable fat, cocoa butter, and chocolate. The caramel filling is made from sugar, skim milk powder, glucose syrup, and butter. Finally, the chocolate coating is made up of cocoa solids and vegetable fat.
How Twix is made
Twix is one of the most iconic chocolate bars in the UK. However, it is also one of the most mysterious - because we know very little about how they are made! When it comes to chocolate bar production, there are two common methods - conching and grinding. But which method does Twix use? Neither. We actually don't know what method Mars uses to make our favourite chocolate bar!
The nutritional value of a Twix bar
A Twix bar has 290 calories, 14g of fat, 4g of carbs and 19g of sugar. It also has 20% of your daily allowance for saturated fat and 22% of your daily allowance for sodium.
